they say two is company and three is a crowd. yoongi isn’t one hundred percent clear on how he feels about it, though the overwhelming majority of his husband’s attention often seems spoken for these days.

and anyway it’s not three total; it’s six.

one of the culprits has the audacity to rub and lean against yoongi’s shins, the low rattle of a purr manipulatively endearing and cocky.

he sighs.

“that’s unnecessary,” he says but it comes out soft and warm more than anything else.

as if able to tell as much, the cat repeats the motion.

yoongi shakes his head.

they actually have four cats. yoongi doesn’t quite understand how. fortunately (?) jungkook is there to remind him:

“because they think you’re one of them.”

(?)

yoongi probably would be better off not vocalizing his hypothetical queries.

jungkook goes on, “it’s the same for me but with dogs.” pause. “but we don’t really have a stray dog problem here, so it’s never come up.” pause. “which is probably good.” and maybe he’s about to say something else too but one of the four cats – jungkook named this one todoroki, justifying it by pointing at his red and white markings – takes this moment to pad in, turn in a circle, and flop down: right on top of jungkook’s feet. he blinks.

“no wonder we can’t get any work done,” yoongi says and he’s half joking half not.
